Premier League Draft Game: Build an Unbeaten XI

Only one team has ever gone through a Premier League season without losing — Arsenal in 2003-04. Every football fan has wondered the same thing since: what would it take to do it again? What if you could pull the best players from the great Premier League sides of the last few decades into one starting eleven and let them loose on a full season?

Go Unbeaten is that thought experiment turned into a game. Spin a wheel, draft a Starting XI from legendary club squads, then watch a 38-match season play out in seconds. The result lands somewhere between immortality and relegation — and a perfect campaign is hard enough that you will genuinely celebrate when it happens.

How it works

Pick a formation first — 4-3-3 by default, with 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 also available. Then, for each of the eleven slots, spin the wheel to lock in one of six club-season combinations, from the 2003-04 Arsenal Invincibles to the 2023-24 Manchester City champions. Each spin deals you a hand of four players from that squad for the position you are filling, and you get two re-rolls across the whole draft if the wheel is not being kind. Knowledge Mode hides the ratings entirely and makes you draft on football memory alone.

Once all eleven slots are filled, the game simulates a full 38-match season — and yes, draws are in play, just like the real thing. Players who shared a club or a season link up better, so a high-chemistry squad punches above its average rating. Finish all 38 unbeaten with no draws and you hit the top tier, GOAT — UNBEATEN; go unbeaten with a few draws and you join the INVINCIBLES; 28 or more wins makes you CHAMPIONS, with the ladder running down through Top 4, Europa and Survival to Relegated. The simulation is seeded, so a shared result link always replays the exact same campaign.

The real-world benchmark

The benchmark is Arsenal 2003-04: played 38, won 26, drew 12, lost none. Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira carried that unbeaten run on to 49 league matches in total — still the longest in English top-flight history. The only comparable feat came over a century earlier, when Preston North End went unbeaten through the very first Football League season in 1888-89.

A perfect season, though, has never been done. No club has ever won all 38 games — even Manchester City’s record-breaking 100-point side of 2017-18 lost twice along the way. That is the gap this game lets you chase: the Invincibles went unbeaten, but nobody has gone 38 for 38.

Legendary squads you can draft

Frequently asked

Has any Premier League team gone a whole season unbeaten?

Yes — once. Arsenal went through the 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten, winning 26 and drawing 12 of their 38 matches. They are still the only club to do it, which is why they are known as the Invincibles.

Has any team ever won all 38 games in a Premier League season?

No. A perfect 38-win season has never happened in the Premier League. That is exactly what the top tier in this game — GOAT — UNBEATEN — asks of you: win every single match without a draw or a defeat.

How does the Premier League draft game work?

Choose a formation, then spin the wheel for each of your eleven slots. Every spin locks in a legendary club season, deals you four candidate players for that position, and you pick one. You get two re-rolls across the draft. When your XI is complete, the game simulates all 38 matches and grades the season on a tier ladder from GOAT — UNBEATEN down to Relegated.

Will a shared season replay the same way?

Yes. Every simulation runs on a seed combined with your exact lineup, so the same squad and seed always produce the identical campaign. When someone opens your share link, they see the season you actually got — no re-rolling the story.
