AFCON compresses a continent’s football cultures into one unforgiving month. The modern competition starts with twenty-four nations, cuts to a Round of 16 and then offers no second chances. Seven matches separate a group-stage opener from lifting the trophy.
This challenge gives AFCON its own Go Unbeaten identity. Nation-years are grounded in Africa Cup of Nations editions rather than relabelled World Cup approximations, so each spin belongs to the competition it represents.

Choose the archive
Each archive entry pairs an African nation with a real AFCON edition and the eligible players from that tournament squad. Cameroon 2000, Egypt 2010, Côte d’Ivoire 2015 and Senegal’s title sides should feel like distinct football teams, not colour-swapped versions of one generic nation.

Build the draft
The eleven-player draft, formation choices, difficulty settings and chemistry system stay familiar. What changes is the eligible archive and tournament structure, with positions, alternate roles and enough squad depth for every supported formation.

Senegal won the 2025 edition in January 2026, beating hosts Morocco 1-0 after extra time in Rabat to claim their second African title. That run is exactly the kind of tournament-specific squad the archive needs to preserve.
Egypt remain the competition’s record winners with seven titles, including three in succession from 2006 to 2010. That dynasty, Cameroon’s great sides and champions from across different eras give AFCON mode a history that cannot be represented honestly by World Cup squads alone.

Yes, including Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire and others. Most current records are tied to World Cup years, so separate AFCON tournament squads still need to be added.
How long will an AFCON run be?
The planned modern format is seven matches: three in the group and four knockout games through the final.
