How to go 38-0
38-0 means winning every single one of the 38 simulated Premier League games in a Go Unbeaten season. No draws, no defeats, no asterisks. Here's how the engine works — and how to bend the odds your way.
Spin a clubHow the simulation decides each match
Once you confirm your eleven, the engine works out a single squad strength: the average overall rating of your players, plus a chemistry bonus worth up to 12 extra points at 100% chemistry. That strength sets your win probability for every match — roughly 2.5 percentage points per point of strength — but it is capped at 98.5%. Even a flawless, fully linked squad can drop a game, and over 38 matches that small chance compounds. That is exactly why a perfect season is rare, in the game as in real life.
League mode also has draws. When a match is not won, slightly more than half of those dropped results land as draws rather than defeats. A draw kills your shot at the GOAT tier, which demands a perfect 38 from 38 — but it does not cost you Invincibles, which only requires zero losses.
One more thing worth knowing: the simulation is seeded. The same seed and the same eleven will always replay the identical campaign, so a shared result is always a truthful one.
Five ways to tilt the odds
1Chase chemistry before anything else
Every pair of players in your eleven is checked for links: sharing a club or nation counts as a full link, while sharing a season or era counts as half. Your chemistry score is the share of linked pairs, from 0 to 100. An eleven of strangers leaves up to 12 squad-strength points on the table — the full breakdown is in our chemistry guide.
2Spend your two re-rolls wisely
You get exactly two re-rolls per game. A re-roll respins the wheel for a new club and season and deals a fresh hand for the position you are on. Do not burn both on early defensive picks — a weak hand at striker or in central midfield hurts your average rating far more than a slightly underwhelming full back.
3Rating beats reputation in Standard mode
Standard draft mode shows every candidate's overall rating and sorts the hand from best to worst. Famous names are fun, but the simulation only sees the number. When a cult hero and a quietly rated 90 sit side by side, take the 90 — unless the lesser-rated player completes a chemistry chain worth more than the rating gap.
4Keep eras consistent across the XI
Half links from a shared season or era stack across every pair in your squad, so a team drawn from two or three tight eras will quietly out-score a scattergun eleven of legends from six different decades. If your spine is from one title-winning season, lean into it.
5Pick your formation before you fall in love with players
There are five formations — 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 — and your choice locks in once you spin. The shape decides which positions you must fill: 3-5-2 has no full backs but needs three centre backs and two strikers. Choose the shape that suits the positions you expect to draft well — see the formations guide for a slot-by-slot breakdown.
The tier ladder
Your final record maps onto a ladder of seven tiers. GOAT is the only one that demands perfection; Invincibles forgives draws but never a defeat.
| Tier | What it takes |
|---|---|
| GOAT — Unbeaten | 38 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses |
| Invincibles | Zero losses — draws allowed |
| Champions | 28+ wins |
| Top 4 | 20+ wins |
| Europa | 15+ wins |
| Survival | 10+ wins |
| Relegated | Fewer than 10 wins |
The real-world benchmark
No team has ever gone 38-0 in the real Premier League. The closest anyone has come is Arsenal's 2003-04 Invincibles, who finished the season with 26 wins, 12 draws and zero defeats. That is the line our Invincibles tier honours — and the gap between 26 wins and 38 is the whole fantasy of the game. You can dig into the few genuinely unbeaten campaigns in football history on our unbeaten seasons page.
If you arrived here from the viral 38-0-0.com game, the premise will feel familiar — it popularised the Premier League version of this challenge, and credit to it for that. Go Unbeaten's club mode is our own take, with formations, a chemistry system and seeded, replayable simulations; see how the two compare on our 38-0 game page. Frequently asked
Is the simulation random?
It is seeded. Every campaign is keyed to a seed plus your exact eleven, so the same seed and the same lineup always replay the identical season — no quietly re-rolling a bad result.
Do draws end a 38-0 run?
A draw ends your shot at GOAT, which demands 38 wins from 38 games. It does not cost you the Invincibles tier — that only requires zero losses, exactly like Arsenal in 2003-04.
How many re-rolls do I get?
Two per game. A re-roll sends you back to the wheel for a fresh club and season, and deals a new hand of candidates for the position you are filling.
How much is chemistry actually worth?
Chemistry is scored 0-100 and feeds into squad strength at 0.12 points per percent — so a perfectly linked eleven adds up to 12 points on top of your average rating.
Can I share a 38-0 run?
Yes. Every result gets its own link and preview image, with the record encoded in the URL itself. The link is the receipt.
