Chicago Bears 1985: The Monsters of the Midway
Some teams win championships. The 1985 Chicago Bears became folklore. Buddy Ryan's 46 defense terrorised quarterbacks, Walter Payton ran with the grace of a man who would retire as the NFL's all-time leading rusher, and the whole squad was so confident it recorded a music video before the Super Bowl had even been played.
In Go Unbeaten you can call that swagger your own. Open the NFL game, spin the wheel, and when it lands on the Bears' 1985 season you draft from this exact roster — Payton, Mike Singletary, Richard Dent and the rest — then simulate a 17-game season and see if your version can finish what the real one nearly did.

The story
The 1985 Bears went 15-1, and the season is remembered as much for the one as the fifteen. Their only defeat came at the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 13, with the 1972 Dolphins' perfect-season legacy famously on the line. Chicago responded by recording the 'Super Bowl Shuffle' and then not losing again.
The defense was the story. Buddy Ryan's 46 scheme, anchored by Defensive Player of the Year Mike Singletary and edge rusher Richard Dent, allowed the fewest points in the league. In the playoffs the Bears became the first team to post back-to-back postseason shutouts, blanking the New York Giants 21-0 and the Los Angeles Rams 24-0.
Super Bowl XX was a coronation. Chicago dismantled the New England Patriots 46-10 — at the time the most lopsided Super Bowl ever — with Dent named MVP. Jim McMahon ran in two touchdowns, the defense scored one of its own, and the Monsters of the Midway sealed their place in NFL history.
